Dr. Kristopher T. Kimmell is a board-certified neurosurgeon with extensive experience in clinical practice, academic research, and health system leadership.

He completed his neurosurgery residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center in 2017. After residency he practiced at North Kansas City Hospital before returning to Rochester to join Rochester Regional Health, where he served as Chief of Neurosurgery from 2022 to 2024.

His clinical practice encompasses the full range of adult neurosurgery including spinal disorders, trauma, tumors, and cerebrovascular disease. He has also helped develop multidisciplinary care programs and expand neurosurgical access for patients in rural communities through telemedicine and regional care coordination.

In addition to clinical work, Dr. Kimmell has been actively involved in national neurosurgical leadership and advocacy, including roles within the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

Personal

An avid runner who has participated in half-marathons and team road races, Dr. Kimmell has a lifelong interest in fitness and wellness. With his undergraduate education in the classics, he remains a student of history with a wide range of reading interests, including history, biography, and economics. He also enjoys spending time outdoors and loves hiking and nature photography. He has been married to his wife, Jessica, for over twenty years; together they have two children and reside in Rochester, NY.
